Next Magazine Made Cozmo One of the 6 Upcoming Stars of NYC!

Actor? Artist? Resurrector of the dead? The impersonating impresario is all of the above but dont you dare call him a drag queen. Calling him an impressionist doesnt acknowledge his attention to detail in the realm of costuming. The title of actor isnt quite fitting as hes doesnt subscribe to typecasting. And artist seems a tad stuffy. So what exactly does this Utah native do? To put it succinctly: Jason Cozmo gives good face. Or rather, faces Lucy, Liza, Dolly and numerous others from the pantheon of one-named divas. I was cast at Disneyland and moved to Los Angeles in 1999, Cozmo shares. One year, for Halloween, we all decided to go as dead celebrities. I went as Lucille Ball. The goof soon led to a gig at Long Beach hang Hamburger Marys. One of the drag queens there hated me, Cozmo recalls. I treated it as theaterI showed up at the club, did a show and then I took everything off. For drag queens, its a lifestyle; for me, playing Lucy or Liza is no different from playing Peter Pan or Will Parker. Or Clay Aiken or Chaplin, for that matter (two male characters also in Cozmos catalog of characters). I literally take an Elmers glue stick to glue my eyebrows down and paint my face to match the shape of different faces. I started doing this while I was studying Disney characters learning how they move, how they act, and learning how to paint their faces on my face. ArrArriving in New York less than a year ago, Cozmo saw his knack for mimicry as an asset to his acting. You have 5,000 talented boys in this city with all-American looks who can sing and dance and act, he says. I realized no ones going to make it for me; I had to go out and do it myself. And were guessing it wont be long before the next face Cozmo will be showing us will be his ownpainted with a smile. HX Magazine January 2006 NYC
